Kathleen DeLacy, Partner in the Firm’s Estates & Trusts, Business Succession Planning and Real Estate Groups, has been assisting businesses and individuals located throughout the State of Delaware for more than 16 years. She began working at Reger Rizzo & Darnall in the winter of 2012, forming the Delaware Estates & Trust Department. In November 2014, the firm opened an office in Rehoboth Beach, DE in order to expand the services offered to our downstate clients. Ms. DeLacy is proud to share time between the Firm’s Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach offices in an effort to accommodate the needs of her clients state-wide.
Ms. DeLacy has extensive experience offering estate planning, estate and trust administration and probate services as well as elder law assistance, including asset protection planning for long-term care (Medicaid and VA). She assists clients with estate planning issues, particularly in light of the complex issues facing same-sex couples and the newly enacted law allowing same-sex couples to marry in Delaware, and she handled the first same-sex adoption case which set precedent in the state of Delaware.
Additionally, Ms. DeLacy recently established the Firm’s Real Estate Closing Practice in Delaware, where she assists clients through every step of the residential and commercial purchase and refinance process, now focusing on commercial real estate. This practice includes the review of all contracts, mortgage documents, title and surveys, and prepares the necessary documents for the Closing. She also travels to closings at a location convenient to her clients. Offering a sophisticated, cross-disciplinary approach to the representation of real estate closing clients allows Ms. DeLacy to offer an additional level of service and support unmatched by our legal counterparts.
Ms. DeLacy is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware, a 1995 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Widener University and a 2000 graduate of Widener University School of Law. She is a frequent lecturer and presenter focusing on a wide range of topics, including estate planning, estate administration, guardianships, elder law and Medicaid-related matters.
