Joel D. Newport, Managing Partner of the Firm’s Towson, Maryland office, is an experienced trial attorney in state and federal courts across Maryland and elsewhere. He specializes in complex litigation, including medical malpractice defense, construction and commercial litigation, EEOC litigation, and product liability cases. Joel has represented clients in complex litigation before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation in the MDL-875 asbestos litigation, in re L-Tryptophan, and in re Body Armor litigations.
Joel has completed multiple bench and jury trials in Maryland state courts in the City of Baltimore and Baltimore County, Anne Arundel, Cecil, Carroll, Caroline, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Wicomico Counties, the Southern and Northern Divisions of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the New Castle County Superior Court, Wilmington, Delaware.
Joel obtained his B.S. in biology from Syracuse University, where he was a New York State Board of Regents Scholarship recipient. He graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was the editor-in-chief of the University of Miami Entertainment and Sports Law Review.
Joel is married with two children. He enjoys playing and coaching basketball, bowling, and golf. His favorite trips have been to winemaking regions in the United States and around the world.
