October 14, 2024 – We are deeply saddened at the passing of long-time Reger Rizzo & Darnall Partner and friend Jerome R. Balka.

Jerry was a dedicated colleague, friend, and family man. He worked for more than 60 years, primarily handling real estate matters and estate planning. He retired in 2023 but was always happy to pick up the phone for a legal question.

Prior to entering into private practice, Jerry served as a member of the United States Army’s Counter-Intelligence Service from 1954 to 1956 and also served as the Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia from 1956 to 1960. Before joining Reger Rizzo & Darnall, Jerry opened his own firm, The Law Offices of Balka and Balka, and served as the Corporate Secretary and Director for Dixico, Inc. from 1981 to 1985. Mr. Balka served as General Counsel for Prudential Savings Bank for many decades, providing advice and guidance with respect to mortgage banking and regulatory issues.

He is survived by his wife Arleen (Sissy); sister Ruth; children: Christie, Ellen and Richard, their spouses; and grandchildren.

It was his desire for anyone who wished to honor his memory to “please register new voters in the coming weeks.” We will miss his kind personality and desire to make the world a better place.
