January 15, 2025 – RRD’s Employment Practice Group Chair, Robert W. Small, detailed the important steps employers need to take to ensure businesses are prepared for a visit by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) during a radio interview this week with WGMD radio host Jake Smith.

As the new Administration commences next week, we expect to see a shift in immigration enforcement policies. Under the first Trump Administration, there was a drastic increase in the number of employer audits and worksite investigations by HSI. RRD anticipates seeing this happen again and is encouraging businesses to prepare. As Small explains, given the short turnaround time for an investigation, it is recommended that employers review their files and put procedures in place for addressing the audits should documents need to be presented on short notice.
