Join Harris J. Chernow, Chair of Reger Rizzo & Darnall’s national Franchise & Distribution Practice Group for a panel discussion entitled, Permission or Forgiveness: Dealing with Brands and Brand Standards, during the 5th Annual Georgetown Law Hotel & Lodging Summit.

The seminar will focus on discussing the legal challenges related to brand standards throughout their life cycle and will analyze the dynamics among franchisors, owners and management companies in the creation, implementation and enforcement of brand standards. Presenters will also address hot-topics, such as: how to obtain new insights about implementation and changes of brand standards in franchise and management agreements; how to understand which aspects of design and signage are protectable intellectual property; the challenges you should consider when refreshing a mature system; and ways to explore legal challenges related to de-identification of a property leaving a system, including how to deal with unique structural trade dress. 

The full, two-day summit has been approved for 10.75 hours of CLE credits (based on a 60-minute hour), including two hours of ethics credits, and 12.9 CLE credits (based on a 50-minute hour), including 2.4 hours of ethics credits.
