October 15-17, 2025 – Reger Rizzo & Darnall LLP Partner and Chair of the National Franchise & Distribution and Hospitality Groups, Harris J. Chernow, will be a guest speaker at the 48th Annual Forum on Franchising in Orlando, Florida.

Harris will address various issues that arise when a franchisor is named in a lawsuit brought by a third party involving a franchisee’s business. Panelists will discuss, among other aspects: (i) when a franchisor might be held liable for its franchisee’s conduct, and how it might avoid responsibility for conduct that it neither participated in, nor condoned; (ii) issues of actual and apparent control, and other tests that apply to hold franchisors liable for franchisee conduct; and (iii) practical considerations such as the extent to which the franchisor’s and franchisee’s interests are aligned, the desirability of a joint defense, indemnification obligations, tender of defense, selection of counsel, and drafting considerations.
