Robert J. Foster, Partner in our Philadelphia, PA office, authored an article for the September 23, 2014 edition of The Legal Intelligencer, entitled There Is More to Life Than Billable Hours. The article was included in The Legal’s First Year Associates special supplement. 

In the article, Mr. Foster recounts a time when he was a young Associate during which he and his family learned that their son had an inoperable brain tumor. Mr. Foster discusses how career choices impacted his ability to deal with this tragedy, the importance of support from co-workers during such difficult times and the value of a legal community willing to extend the extra courtesies needed when one of their own is in trouble. The article offers young associates insight into both what they can expect in their first few years as lawyers, as well as how to handle the unexpected throughout their careers.
