In this practical full-day course, attendees will learn the mechanisms needed in order to prevent the most common mistakes from occurring at your school. You will learn how to spot potential legal pitfalls, as well as how to tackle them head on. The presenters will cover a wide range of topics, including how you should handle questions regarding disciplinary actions for special needs students, how to confidently navigate through Prior Written Notice (PWN) procedures, how to avoid the most common mistakes commonly made in IEP development, how you can ensure school tests, reports and measurements meet the IDEA's evaluation requirements, how to prevent school personnel actions that could cause major issues, how to ensure IEP development process documentation serves as a legal aid in case of lawsuits and how you should evaluate your students so that you can determine whether they are eligible for special services.
This basic-to-intermediate level seminar is designed for principals, vice-principals, superintendents and assistant superintendents, school psychologists and counselors, general and special education teachers, attorneys and paralegals. The course has been approved for 6.0 hours of Delaware Continuing Legal Education, 7.2 hours of New Jersey Continuing Legal Education, 6.0 hours of Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education, and 0.60 hours of IACET credit.
