Partner Presents Seminar to Community Group on the Home Improvement Contractor’s Act
Partner Drew Luca presented a hands-on seminar to a Burlington County Community Group comprised of older New Jersey residents about how to deal with home improvement contractors as well as the protections afforded consumers under NJ’s Home Improvement Contractor’s Act.
“As our citizenry lives healthier, longer and more fulfilling lives in their own home, whether it be in a 55 & older community or other residential setting, we find our Mothers, Fathers, Aunts and Uncles dealing with contractors to complete a necessary or cosmetic household repair or upgrade. And, unfortunately, because of their age, it is becoming more prevalent for unscrupulous contractors to try and take advantage of our older loved ones. I find that New Jersey retirees are very capable of dealing with contractors on their own but are in need of some of the necessary specifics that the law requires in order to protect themselves as informed consumers. My seminar is designed to arm our residents in New Jersey with those specifics – what questions to ask; what to look for on the estimate; what documents to demand from a potential contractor; whether the contractor is insured, registered and/or licensed and among other necessary points, how to cancel a contract if the consumer changes his or her mind”.
If you are interested in scheduling a seminar with Mr. Luca for your association, group or neighborhood watch regarding dealing with home improvement contractors, please feel free to contact him at his New Jersey office location at 856-778-8950.
